A 32-old-man has been charged with the murder of Darren Round, whose body was tragically found in a Kings Norton canal over five years ago.Â
Darren’s body was discovered in the canal off Masshouse Lane on the morning of Saturday 15th February 2020. A post mortem examination revealed the 48-year-old had suffered significant facial injuries consistent with an assault before he entered the water.
An appeal was launched with CCTV of Darren’s movements prior to his death and a reward of £10,000 offered for information.
Despite an arrest in 2021, investigators were unable to get closure on the case. However, yesterday, Â detectives arrested Cain Watson, 32, at an address in Birmingham.
Watson has been charged with murder and is due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court today.
West Midlands Police said they have been keeping Darren’s family updated and are continuing to support them at this difficult time.
