A man received a serious head injury after being attacked with an axe yesterday afternoon (Wednesday 15th October).

Police were called to reports of an attack involving a man with an axe in the area of West Heath Park, near Grange Farm Drive, Kings Norton at around 4.50pm.

Attending police officers discovered a man in his 30s with a serious injury to his head.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “On arrival, crews found a man who they treated for serious injuries before conveying him under emergency driving conditions to hospital.”

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said that the man remains in hospital, where his condition today is believed to not be life-threatening.

A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent. He remains in police custody.

The police spokesperson said: “House to house enquiries have been carried out with CCTV also being retrieved and reviewed as we work to establish the circumstances.

“Neighbourhood officers also remain on patrol in the area today to offer reassurance to the local community.”

  1. Grange Farm Drive is NOT in West Heath, it is in Kings Norton North Ward. It may be near West Heath Park but it is not in West Heath. Please correct your error as I’m very annoyed to read it leading to sneering comments about the lovely area we live in such as, “I see nothing’s changed in the 25 years since I left there”. I realise Kings Norton North with its affluent residents and expensive housing might like not to associate itself with crimes such as this but on this occasion that is exactly the case. Please report accurately when you are going to harm an area’s reputation. West Heath is an area where honest working people live and crime rates are relatively low here.
