The first steps are underway towards the submission of a planning application for up to 1450 new homes in Cofton Hackett.
The proposals for ‘Groveley Garden Village’ are being developed by St Modwen and Bournville Village Trust.
The site, currently used for agriculture, is bordered by Groveley Lane / Nuthurst Road, Longbridge Lane / Birmingham Road to the east, Upper Bittell Reservoir to the south (map).
If all permissions are granted, the development could see the new homes with a local centre alongside a primary school, conservation centre, community centre, community productivity hub, woodland foraging and a sports hub.
An initial query has been put to Bromsgrove District Council’s (BDC) planning department, to scope out the parameters that developers will need to cover with the Environmental Impact Statement which will be required alongside any outline planning application for the development.
It is not known as yet when the application for outline planning permission will be submitted to BDC.
To see the request for Environmental Impact Assessment Scoping Opinion and Bromsgrove District Council’s response, visit the application online.Â
Alternatively, visit the Bromsgrove and Redditch planning website and search for application number 25/00501/EOR

This is absolutely out of order.
This is just Bromsgrove not wanting anymore houses near them and want to stick their quota in birmingham on them fields.
We have roe deers, muntjac deers, foxes, badgers, birds of prey, frogs the list goes on but F**k it – just kill them i suppose.
No one wants 1500 houses here – we don’t even want houses on the Longbridge site – we want factories / offices and jobs for our kids!
The head of Bournville Cadburys name is Gerrad Baldwin on-line – he needs to be contacted by everyone!
No one has even asked the residents if you want to cram us together even more – this was a get away from what has already happened to our town – destroying Rover etc.
Do not build on this land!
F**k off to somewhere what actually needs investment like Birmingham town centre, Allum Rock, Lozells, these people need support but you just want to build on our green spaces instead – it’s all about the money I suppose to you lot – don’t worry about the residents- it’s not on your doorstep!
Mr Cadbury would turn in his grave with what your doing! And I for one will not eat another square of Cadburys chocolate if this goes ahead.
Your destroying a local farm – loads of us get milk from delivered – Grovewood Farm is a landmark here wtf are you doing – Labour f**king up Longbridge AGAIN for the 2nd time!
Shame on you if you live here and support this s**t!
I want to potest and am looking forward to it when it happens – get ready St Modwins in the centre of Longbridge as I’m sure we will do it there!
Don’t destroy our town anymore!
F**k off back to Bromsgrove!
