A community centre is launching a new pre-loved swap shop to support families manage the cost of kitting their children out with school uniforms.

‘The Shenley Uniform Swop Shop’ will officially open at Shenley Court Hall, managed by charity Bournville Village Trust, on Monday 1st June 2026 from 10am-12pm.

It is being run in partnership with ‘Rubery Schools Community Swop Shop’, which is run exclusively by volunteers, and became a registered charity in 2022.

The Shenley Uniform Shop will offer families a range of free good-quality pre-loved school uniforms, including blazers, jumpers, coats and PE kits, for local schools in the surrounding areas.

Joanne Deakin, Centre Coordinator at Shenley Court Hall, said: “We know it’s a tough time for some families at the moment, and the cost of buying brand new uniforms, on top of rising costs for things like energy bills and food, can be an added burden.

“The ‘Shenley Uniform Swop Shop’ will give families the chance to browse and pick up free donated uniform items, helping reduce waste while supporting sustainable and cost-effective ways to prepare children for school.

“We hope this new initiative will become a valuable resource for local families and an opportunity for the community to come together and support one another.”

Kristina Murphy, Founder of the ‘Rubery Schools Community Swop Shop’, said: “We are so excited and proud to be working in partnership with Bournville Village Trust to enable local access for families to free preloved school uniform at Shenley Court Hall. This partnership will be of huge benefit for the local community, saving families money whilst protecting the planet!”

The ‘Shenley Uniform Swop Shop’ will be open at Shenley Court Hall, 200 Green Meadow Road, Birmingham, B29 4ED, every Monday (10am-12pm) during term time.

It is also welcoming donations of pre-loved school clothing and uniforms that are still in a good, clean condition. Donations can include blazers, trousers, skirts, shirts, jumpers, PE kits, coats, and school shoes for local schools.
Every donation, big or small, will help another family in the community.

If you would like to donate any items, please bring them to Shenley Court Hall, Monday- Friday, 9am – 4:30pm.
