Boy (13) arrested carrying machete in Northfield street

A 13-year-old boy was arrested on Sunday (3rd April) when he was found carrying a machete in a Northfield street.

Officers from West Midlands Police’s Guardian Taskforce stopped the boy on Taysfield Road and recovered the machete. He was arrested and has been referred to a YOT (Youth Offending Team), where work will begin with the aim of preventing re-offending.

Project Guardian is a specialist taskforce which tackles knife crime and youth violence.

There is particular emphasis on reducing knife crime, through a range of tactics from plain-clothed operations to high visibility patrols and positive engagement with young people.
