Young man sadly dies near Northfield train station

Floral tributes have been laid at Northfield train station after a young man sadly died on the tracks on Sunday (3rd May). 

Trains were halted on the Cross City south line for some time as emergency services attended the scene. The tragic incident is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police confirmed today: “We were called to Northfield station at around 8.50pm on Sunday 3 May following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Officers attended along with paramedics but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called to an incident near to Northfield Railway Station at 8.54pm on Sunday.

“On arrival we discovered one patient, a man. Sadly, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
