A Northfield man has been charged after two others were stabbed during a disorder in Smethwick on Tuesday evening (26th May).
Following the violent disorder – which took place in Foundry Lane just before 9.30pm – two men attended hospital with stab wounds. A 21-year-old man remains in a serious condition.
West Midlands Police detained a man in connection with the incident and he has now been charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon.
19-year-old Andre Gomes, from Northfield, has been remanded to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court tomorrow (Friday 29th May).
Two other men, both 18, have been bailed while police enquiries continue.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “We know this is concerning for the community and we’ve increased our presence in the area to provide reassurance.
“The investigation remains ongoing and we’d ask people to send any footage to us, rather than share it online.
“We have set up a dedicated web page where information can be uploaded securely.”
