FAMILY RUN ELDERLY CARE HOME
We are looking for an activities coordinator to work across our two Stennards Leisure Retirement Home site- Kings norton and Moseley.
Our clients are elderly with and without dementia.
An Activities Coordinator in a care home is responsible for creating and implementing a diverse and engaging activities program for residents, promoting their physical, mental, and social well-being. This role involves tailoring activities to individual needs and preferences, fostering social interaction, and encouraging residents to maintain their hobbies and interests.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning and Implementing Activities:
Designing and leading a variety of activities, both individual and group-based, to cater to residents’ diverse needs and interests. This includes things like arts and crafts, music and dance, physical activities, cognitive games, and reminiscence therapy.
Individualized Plans:
Creating activity plans that are tailored to each resident’s unique needs, goals, and preferences.
Community Engagement:
Organizing outings and trips to local attractions with assistance from management, facilitating social interaction within the community, and encouraging residents to stay connected with their surroundings.
Promoting Wellbeing:
Focusing on residents’ emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual wellbeing through various activities.
Collaboration and Communication:
Working closely with residents, their families, and other care home staff to ensure activities are relevant and enjoyable.
Administrative Tasks:
Maintaining records of resident participation, managing budgets for activities, and ordering necessary supplies.
Skills and Qualifications:
Creativity and Enthusiasm:Â The ability to develop and lead engaging and stimulating activities.
Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills:Â The ability to connect with residents, understand their needs, and build rapport.
Organizational Skills:Â The ability to plan, coordinate, and manage activities effectively.
Empathy and Patience:Â The ability to work with residents who may have a range of physical and cognitive abilities.
Understanding of Dementia and other conditions:Â Some roles may require specific knowledge of dementia-friendly activities and care.
Experience: Experience working with older adults or in a care setting is preferred but not essential
In essence, the Activities Coordinator role is about enriching the lives of our care home residents by providing meaningful and enjoyable experiences that promote their overall health and happiness.
£13 per hour. 2 hours at each site per day (5 days a week, days can vary and as long as arranged can change week to week) + 30 minutes paid travel time between the two sites. total 22.5 hours per week.
Float provided to purchase activity provisions. We already have plenty of resources to get started with lots of different activities.
