On Thursday 18 July, Birmingham Hospice will once again be opening its doors to companies across the West Midlands for its next Above and Beyond Club (ABC) networking event.
Birmingham Hospice’s Above and Beyond Club is a new and exclusive members club. It’s open to local businesses and industry professionals who are passionate about supporting the hospice’s mission to enable more people from all communities to access the care of their choice at the end of life.
The networking event is open to all local businesses who are interested in hearing more about the vital work Birmingham Hospice does, as well as having the opportunity to meet like-minded individuals and become a member of ABC.
Corporate support has never been so important as the charity recently announced it has had to reduce its services and close inpatient beds due to insufficient funding from the government. The cost of energy, food and medicine has rapidly risen, but the funding provided by the NHS hasn’t matched this.
Luke Manley, Corporate Fundraising Manager at Birmingham Hospice, said: “We’re thrilled to once again be inviting local businesses to Birmingham Hospice. ABC members will play a key role in supporting our hospice through what is a very difficult period for our charity.
“Despite being a vital specialist healthcare service, hospice care isn’t fully funded by the NHS. This year, we must raise £6.5 million through fundraising activity alone to ensure local people can die comfortably, in a place of their choice, and with dignity. Sadly, as you may have already seen, we have had to make the difficult decision to reduce some of our services.
“Fundraising really is as important as ever. ABC members will play a key role in raising funds and awareness, while facilitating connections between our Fundraising Team and big-hearted businesses and influential individuals. We’d love for anyone interested in supporting the vital work the hospice does to come along and see how they can get involved.”
As part of the club, ABC members will be invited to regular networking events co-hosted by Birmingham Hospice and other local businesses. They will also be provided with a welcome pack, gain access to some of the charity’s exciting events, and receive social and volunteering opportunities, plus free Corporate Bereavement Training.
