The junction where the incident happened is notoriously dangerous – fir cars let alone cyclists. I happily cycle around London including Hyde park corner (it’s easier than being in a car) but I am of the view that I put my life at risk cycling in Birmingham- drivers here will beep you for no reason, speed past you without a care cut you up at junctions.
