    Job Title: Night Care Assistant
    Location: Stennards Leisure Retirement Home, Moseley, Birmingham B315LN
    Hours: Night Shift – 9:00 pm to 7:00 am (10-hour shifts)

    3 days per week total 30 hours

    Reports To: Senior Care Assistant / Registered Manager

    Job Purpose

    As a Night Care Assistant at Stennards Leisure Retirement Home, you will provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to our residents throughout the night. You will help ensure residents are safe, comfortable, and treated with dignity and respect, while maintaining a calm, secure, and welcoming environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Deliver compassionate, person-centred care in accordance with each resident’s individual care plan.

    Assist residents with personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting, continence care, and changing bedding where required.

    Support residents with safe moving and handling using appropriate equipment and techniques.
    Carry out regular night-time welfare checks and respond promptly to residents’ needs, including emergency call bells.

    Assist residents who require support with mobility, repositioning, or comfort during the night.

    Administer or assist with medication if trained and authorised to do so, following company policies and procedures.

    Accurately complete care records, incident reports, and handover notes.
    Maintain residents’ privacy, dignity, independence, and choice at all times.
    Observe and report any changes in residents’ physical or mental wellbeing to the Senior Care Assistant or Manager.

    Ensure all areas remain clean, tidy, and safe, following infection prevention and control procedures.

    Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide continuity of care and ensure effective communication during shift handovers.

    Promote safeguarding principles and report any concerns in line with company policy.
    Follow all health and safety procedures, fire safety regulations, and emergency protocols.
    Person Specification
    Essential
    Caring, compassionate, and patient nature.
    Good communication and interpersonal skills.
    Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently during night shifts.
    Reliable, trustworthy, and professional.
    Good written and spoken English.
    Willingness to undertake mandatory training.
    Desirable
    Previous experience working in a residential or care home setting.
    NVQ/QCF Level 2 or Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards one).
    Knowledge of person-centred care, dementia care, and safeguarding.
    Medication administration training.
    Moving and handling training.

    Working Hours
    Night shift: 9:00 pm – 7:00 am
    Includes weekend and bank holiday working on a rota basis.
    Additional shifts may be available to cover annual leave and sickness.
