Birmingham Hospice is collaborating with Global Adventure Challenges to hold their first ever overseas event – the Inca Trail Trek.
The event, taking place from Friday 29th October to Sunday 7th November 2027, will see participants take on one of the world’s top 10 trekking trails, and explore the modern wonder of the world that is Machu Picchu.
During these 10 days, up to 40 Birmingham Hospice trekkers will reach an altitude of over 4,200m, covering sub-tropical forests as well as the snowy peaks of the Andes Mountains.
The trail boasts incredible views of the river valleys below, with participants experiencing a visit to Phuyupatamarca (‘the town at the edge of the clouds’) along the way.
As well as providing a once in a lifetime adventure, it will also raise vital funds for an award-winning charity, supporting the specialist care Birmingham Hospice provides for local people living with a terminal diagnosis, and their loved ones.

“Every step taken on this journey will help us continue delivering compassionate care to those who need it most. I’m so proud to see our supporters embrace this adventure, and I can’t wait to see the impact we’ll achieve together.”

The hospice has around 670 people in its care each day across all its services – but despite its important work, Birmingham Hospice is not fully funded by the NHS. It is reliant on support from the community, and must raise £7.2 million this year from fundraising campaigns, voluntary donations and income from shops to continue delivering its services. The sponsorship raised from the Inca Trail Trek will therefore be essential for local patients and their families.
Through new and innovative events such as the Inca Trail Trek, Birmingham Hospice and its supporters can continue to make every moment matter.
