Three buildings – remnants of Longbridge’s car manufacturing heritage – have been put up for sale.

The iconic Round House – better known to many as ‘The Elephant House’ – and The Conference Centre are being marketed by Knight Frank. Also up for sale is the former International Headquarters, a two storey office building.
The buildings, just off Lowhill Lane opposite Cofton Park, are on the edge of the remaining former MG works where planning permission for a further 688 homes is in place.

The Round House was built as a car showroom by the British Motor Corporation in the 1960s and continued to be a showroom until 2021 when Paul Rigby MG moved to a new site in Redditch.
It’s design led to workers and locals affectionately dubbing it as ‘The Elephant House’.

The 14,000 sq ft building is now being sold as: “Commercial accommodation with potential for reuse or redevelopment.”

The site Conference Centre formerly housed a small museum of cars manufactured at the Longbridge factory, as well as founder Lord Herbert Austin’s office which was moved piece by piece.
The vendor states: “The former conference centre is a prominent standalone element of this and offers purchasers an opportunity for several options subject to planning etc.
“This property is an existing former office and industrial building with potential for reuse, redevelopment or repositioning. The property has potential for continuation of its existing use or other uses subject to all necessary consents.”

The International Headquarters
The former international HQ is a two storey office building spanning 44,000 sq ft.
All the properties have potential for continuation of existing use, or other uses subject to consents. All are listed as Price On Asking.
