A Kings Norton pub remains closed after the landlady was injured in an incident which saw three taken to hospital with stab wounds on Saturday night (25th January).

The manager of the Navigation Inn in Wharf Road suffered stab wounds, along with two men, at around 11.15pm. On Sunday (26th January) afternoon, a West Midlands Police spokesman confirmed: “All three remain in hospital […] none of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.”

Spokesman for pub owners Wetherspoon, Eddie Gershon, said: “This was a horrific incident at the pub.

“Our thoughts are with those who were wounded, together with their colleagues, friends and family.”

Reassuring customers, Mr Gershon added: “The Navigation Inn is a popular local pub and this incident is completely out of character.

“We will continue to work with the police.”

The pub remained closed on Sunday and Mr Gershon said it was unclear at present when the pub would reopen, due to the injury to the manager.

The two injured men were arrested in relation to the incident and, following a vehicle pursuit, a third man, aged 19, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody.

West Midlands Police officers continue to investigate, including carrying out CCTV and house to house enquiries.
