Birmingham Hospice has raised an outstanding £26,000 at its black-tie ball held in the city’s prestigious cricket ground.

On Friday 17th November, Birmingham Hospice welcomed over 230 local people to its magical Winter Ball at Edgbaston Cricket Club.

Guests were treated to an incredible three-course meal, a Freddie Mercury tribute act, and an after-dinner speech from the brilliant Paul Sinha from ITV’s The Chase.

Birmingham Hospice provides free, expert palliative and end of life care services for people in Birmingham, Sandwell, Solihull and Sutton Coldfield. The hospice has two sites, in Selly Park and Erdington, as well as providing care for people in the community.

Each year, Birmingham Hospice must raise over £16 million to cover the cost of running its services. Due to the impact of the cost-of-living crisis, this amount continues to grow. Events like the Winter Ball ensure the hospice can continue to be there for years to come.

In total, the hospice raised a terrific £26,000 at the black-tie event. The thousands raised from ticket sales and fundraising on the night will directly help local people living with a terminal diagnosis receive the warmth and care they so desperately need this festive season.

Speaking about the Winter Ball, Rebecca Richards, Senior Events Manager at Birmingham Hospice, said: “We’re so grateful to everyone who bought tickets to our Winter Ball and joined us for what was a truly magical evening. One of my personal highlights was seeing the dancefloor full of people during the Freddie Mercury tribute act, and the witty after-dinner speech from Paul Sinha.

“A big thank you to all of the suppliers, performers and of course our wonderful guests who helped us to raise such a brilliant amount for Birmingham Hospice patients and their families.”
