UPDATE: 1510hrs Cordon lifted. Police confirm items found were cleared as safe by Army EOD
Around 15 homes were evacuated as police and an army bomb disposal team attended a property in Northfield this afternoon (Saturday 9th May).
Officers searching a property in Hollymoor Way called in the bomb disposal team after a number of suspicious items were found.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “As part of an ongoing investigation, officers have today (9 May) been carrying out a search at an address on Hollymoor Way.
“This afternoon, a number of suspicious items were found at the address.
“As a result, the Army’s EOD team have been called as a precaution. Officers remain at the scene this afternoon.
“As a precaution several homes have been evacuated while searches take place.”
A local resident said: “The bomb disposal van was here yesterday too but we weren’t asked to evacuate. Today, police were searching again and this time we’ve been asked to leave our homes. The police haven’t told us what’s been found.”
Another said: “It’s worrying when you don’t know what’s going on but hopefully everything is made safe and we can go home soon.”
