The details for the first homes planned to be built on a controversial housing development in Northfield have been submitted to Birmingham City Council for approval.

Following a long planning battle, Birmingham City Council’s rejection of outline plans for an 800 home development on the former North Worcestershire Golf Course in Hanging Lane was overturned by central government in July last year.

The outline framework already approved includes 800 homes, public park land, a primary school and a multi-use community hub.

Now developers Bloor Homes are seeking approval for their plans for the first phase of the development.

The plans detail 170 properties – including 58 affordable homes – to be built on a plot to the north of the development, off Frankley Beeches Road. The homes range from 2-4 bedrooms and are constructed in red brick, with some featuring cream render and tudor-style cladding. Two three-storey apartment buildings are also included in Phase 1A.

Access to the homes would be through a junction to the west of Guardian Court.
