Following our recent appeal #WillTheRealJoshBrownPleaseStandUp we can now reveal the REAL Josh Brown!
Nature loving 12 year old Josh from Alvechurch was travelling into Birmingham with his family to see the canal being drained – it turned out they got the day wrong, and the canal was still full of water! But the kindhearted schoolboy did find the mobile phone left by Michelle Hickinbottom’s daughter, Shaunnah, on the train.
Michelle, from West Heath, called the phone and it was answered by Josh, who said he would hand the phone in at Selly Oak. Michelle told him how grateful she and her daughter were and asked him to leave his address so she could forward him a £20 reward for his kindness.
However, generous Josh didn’t leave his address with the phone, instead leaving this inspirational note, asking them to ‘pay it forward’…
In response, B31 Voices put out appeals to help find Josh. Posts about Josh’s good deed attracted thousands of likes, shares and retweets until his actions were drawn to the attention of Sarah Courbet of Alvechurch Village Society, who then contacted Josh’s mother Angela.
Angela said: “We can’t believe all the lovely comments that people have taken the time to post on Facebook and Twitter, [Josh] is so pleased. We are still overwhelmed by the lovely posts and the attention it has attracted.”
As a reward for his generosity, Stone Willy’s Kitchen in Longbridge have offered Josh a free pizza and accompaniments!
Well done, Josh, you are our new hero here at B31 Voices! :)
