Are you ready to vote? Last minute voting info as polling stations open

Every constituency will be electing a new Member of Parliament today. You will have one vote to select your preferred candidate and the candidate with the most votes in each constituency will become the MP.
The number of parliamentary seats won by each political party will decide who leads the next government and who becomes the next Prime Minister.
Two wards in our area will be voting for new councillors in Birmingham City Council by-elections: Northfield ward and Kings Norton North ward. If you are eligible to vote in a by-election you will have received a second polling card.

You do NOT need to take your polling card with you. If you havent recived your polling card you can still vote as long as you are registered to vote.
You MUST take accepted photographic ID to vote. Accepted forms of ID include a UK driving licence, UK passport, Blue Badge, an older or disabled person’s bus pass or a Voter Authority Certificate. See the full list of accepted ID
It is okay if your photo ID has expired but the image must look like you.

In an emergency situation only (eg: medical emergency or new disability, last minute travel for work, loss / non-arrival of Voter ID) you may be eligible to get an emergency proxy vote for a trusted person to vote on your behalf.
Emergency proxy votes can be applied for up to 5pm on election day.
