A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving after a collision in Kings Norton this afternoon (Tuesday 28th July) which left a child in a critical condition in hospital.
A large emergency service presence was reported by locals, with an air ambulance landing close by.
West Midlands Police confirmed they were called to the two car collision in Masshouse Lane – near the Shannon Road junction – just before 6pm.
A 9-year-old boy was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
The arrested pair were also taken to hospital to be checked over.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “We are appealing to anyone who was in the area just before and around the time of the collision and in particular anyone who has any dash-cam footage to get in touch.”
Masshouse Lane remains closed while investigation of the scene continues. Please avoid the area.
