The new owners of Northfield Shopping Centre have said they will be investing in improvements to the centre, to “create an asset the local community can be proud of”.
Property company Sheet Anchor Evolve, part of M Core purchased the south Birmingham retail hub alongside Eldon Garden in Newcastle city centre.
At the heart of Northfield town centre, Northfield Shopping Centre houses 43 units and two kiosks in just over 140,000 sq ft.
Currently home to a mix of national and value‑focused retailers – including Greggs, JD Sports, Superdrug, Iceland and anchor tenants Peacocks and Poundland – the scheme serves a large and established catchment, including Longbridge, Bournville and Kings Norton.
With the development of the new Lidl store imminent at Northfield Shopping Centre, the centre is already set for substantial investment and change.
In addition, Sheet Anchor Evolve says it will be investing in upgrading the appearance and façades of the centre, enhancing the overall environment and presence within the town centre.
As part of the improvement works, the former Wilko unit will be removed, creating space for a new public realm area designed to better serve the local community.
Danny O’Keefe, Co‑Founder at Sheet Anchor Evolve, part of M Core, said:
“We are pleased to have secured both Eldon Garden and Northfield Shopping Centre, two well‑located assets serving established communities.
“Both centres provide essential retail and everyday services. At Northfield, we are delighted to be welcoming Lidl, which will require significant investment and upgrading, alongside public realm improvements and investment in the façades to create an asset the local community can be proud of.
“Our focus [across both schemes] will be on practical asset management, supporting occupiers and introducing uses that strengthen each location over time.”
