UPDATE MON 29 JUNE 2020 via K9 Search UK: Daisy has been FOUND this morning on the quarry and has been reunited with her family. We wish them all the best! ❤️
Thank you to all the rescues and individuals who shared Daisy’s story, posters, info and helped to search!
An autistic teenager and his family are appealing for help to find their much-loved pet greyhound who has been missing for a week.
Rescue dog Daisy went missing from the O’Brien family home in Homemead Grove, Rubery in the West Midlands when a door was accidentally left open on Thursday 11th June.
An ex-racing dog, Daisy hasn’t had the best of lives and bears many battle scars from her days as a racer.
Daisy was adopted by the family from a local greyhound rescue in March this year. Despite being an extremely nervous dog, Daisy formed an immediate and amazing bond with Harvey, 14, and his 8 year old sister Poppy.
There have been searches of the area by Bartley Green based The Animal House Rescue using drone and thermal imaging equipment but sadly no sightings or signs of Daisy have been seen.
Social media appeals have reached thousands – an appeal from local lost and found organisation K9 Search UK has reached over 80,000; the appeal on B31 Voices over 50,000 and appeals are also live on many other Facebook groups and other platforms – but still no signs.
Now K9 Search and Daisy’s family have released a new appeal.
Since Daisy’s disappearance, Harvey has been suffering greatly from anxiety and struggling to sleep.
A statement from K9 Search said: “[Harvey] is praying hard, to such an extent he is making deals with God to return Daisy to him and in return he will do whatever God requests. He cannot go out to search anymore, because he becomes so anxious which leads him to suffer from panic attacks.”
Owner Louise said: “My daughter – who also has autism – turns 8 on Saturday and all she wants for her birthday is for Daisy to come home.
“We all would like to thank everyone who has helped in any way, including K9 Search, The Animal House Rescue and also Daisy’s rescue Daybreaks Trust who have also been amazing – out searching daily and supporting us through this difficult time.”
The last sighting of Daisy was on Friday 12th June in the Cock Hill area of Rubery.
