Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice is teaming up with fashion retailer New Look this Christmas, to offer Northfield shoppers an extra big thank you for supporting the charity.

Following a successful pilot in the summer, New Look is launching a new customer discount initiative to support hospice care by encouraging more people to donate goods to their local hospice shops – and Birmingham St Mary’s Northfield store is one of the shops taking part.

The high street store will be offering a 20 per cent discount voucher to anyone who drops in a full bag of donations to the Hospice shop based at 734 Bristol Road South, before Monday 13 January.

Under the scheme – which is being run in partnership with national hospice charity, Hospice UK – donors will receive a voucher which they will be able to spend at New Look’s store in the Northfield (Grosvenor) Shopping Centre.

Jonathan Varley, head of retail at Birmingham St Mary’s, said: “We’re always looking for good quality stock to fill our shops – whether that’s clothes, homeware, books or more – so we’re delighted to that we can offer our generous donors a New Look voucher to say thank you for their support. Christmas is a great time to declutter and by donating your pre-loved goods to our Northfield shop, you’ll be able to treat yourself to some New Look clothes knowing that you’ve done something good for a local charity.”

Nigel Oddy, chief executive officer at New Look, added: “As a company, we really care about being kind to our people and to our planet, therefore we want to make it easy for our customers to recycle their unwanted clothes whilst helping to reduce the amount of clothing waste that ends up in landfill. New Look is very excited about this partnership with Hospice UK to encourage our customers to donate their once loved clothes to their local hospice shop.”

Birmingham St Mary’s provides care and support to local people living with life-limiting illness. It will cost £9 million this year to run the Hospice’s services – all of which are free of charge to the people who use them – and the shops play a vital role in raising that income.

The Hospice’s Northfield shop sells a range of clothing, accessories, homeware, books, CDs, DVDs, toys and more. Every item bought will help local people and their loved ones to live well with life-limiting illness.
