Police are investigating two reports of indecent assaults on teenage girls in the Turves Green area of Northfield yesterday morning (5 March). One girl was assaulted in Hawkesley Drive and the other in adjacent Laburnum Way.
Both incidents happened between 7.40am and 8.15am when the victims were approached by a man described as being white, 5’10” – 6′ tall, of slim build and aged 18 – 19 years. He was wearing grey jogging bottoms and a black hoody with white stripes.
On both occasions the victims were approached from behind, assaulted and the man ran off. Patrols have been increased in the area, while enquiries continue to identify the suspect.
B31 Voices are aware that a girl was the victim of a third similar incident at around 8am one morning last week, also in Laburnum Way.
Police are also working with local schools to share information and provide personal safety advice to students. Pupils are advised to walk with a friend to and from school.
Incidents of this nature are rare across Birmingham and West Midlands Police today sought to reassure local residents and parents that these incidents are being taken very seriously.
Anyone with information relating to these incidents, or who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area, is urged to call West Midlands Police on 101. Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

We wouldn’t advocate violence. I know this is an emotive issue but please call 101 if you see or know anything and let the police deal with it
