A driver was rushed to hospital with potentially serious injuries after his car flipped in a collision in Northfield yesterday evening (Sunday 21st July).

The collision involving two cars happened at around 8.20pm in Frankley Beeches Road, close to the Egghill Road junction.

Ambulance and fire crews worked together to free the man, who was trapped in his overturned car.

He was treated for potentially serious injuries at the scene by paramedics and taken to hospital for further treatment.

Three other people were assessed and discharged at the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed: “We were called at 8.20pm (Sunday) to reports of an RTC involving two cars on Frankley Beeches Road, Northfield, Birmingham. Two ambulances and the Hazardous Area Response Team attended.

”One car was on its roof with the driver still inside. Ambulance staff worked closely with fire colleagues to carefully extricate the driver, a man, from the vehicle. He was given treatment on scene for potentially serious injuries before being conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

“Three other patients involved in the collision were assessed but discharged on scene.”

West Midlands Police have been approached for a statement.
