Performing Arts students at a Kings Norton college are learning the tricks of the trade from a new tutor: local singer and star of The Voice UK 2015, Mitch Miller.
Originally from the Northfield / Kings Norton area, Mitch received high praise from judges Rita Ora, Tom Jones and Will.I.Am. He’s now back, ready to inspire the next generation of stars at Cadbury Sixth Form College.
Before joining the performing arts team, Mitch began his career with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO), singing at events such as the Commonwealth Games and for her Majesty the Queen at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall. He’s toured with bands like Blue and Steps, as well as being a part of West End musicals including Westside Story, Rent and Godspell before appearing on series four of The Voice UK.
Mitch will now be part of the college’s Performing Arts BTEC, a two-year vocational course, that incorporates acting, musical theatre and visual arts. It is one of the 45 advanced level subjects on offer at Cadbury College designed to meet the needs, interests and aspirations of 16-18 year olds.
Mitch Miller, said: “Being back in my home town to see the next generation of performers cut their teeth means the world to me. It doesn’t seem too long ago since I was doing the same.
“I’ll be sharing all my top tips on how to succeed in the industry with my students, as well as helping them to improve their singing, dancing and acting techniques.”
