The National Blood Service is urging local residents to donate blood.
The service needs to collect around 9000 donations daily to meet demand and at present only around 4 or 5% of people who could donate do so.
Having recently given blood myself for the first time (despite a fear of needles!), I would recommend giving it a go! It’s such a short amount of time to give up to potentially save life. You get to put your feet up for 10-15 minutes and then there’s the free biscuits…..! ;)
The next local sessions are:
Tuesday 23 Aug 2011 14:00 to 15:30 & 16:30 to 19:30 at Longbridge Social Club, Bristol Road South and
Thursday 25 Aug 2011 14:00 to 16:00 & 17:00 to 19:30 at Beacon Church Centre, Rubery
