A pedestrian has been taken to hospital with ‘potentially serious injuries’ following a collision in a Longbridge town centre car park today (Tuesday 16th December).
The incident happened when a car crashed into the pedestrian and several parked cars at around 2.30pm on the surface car park, outside the Marks & Spencer store.
The man was transferred to hospital by ambulance on blue lights.
A female passenger of one of the cars was also taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be serious.
West Midlands Police confirmed the driver involved remained at the scene to assist with enquiries.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We were called to reports of an RTC involving two vehicles and a pedestrian on High Street in Northfield at 2.36pm and sent two ambulances, three paramedic officers and the WMAS Critical Care Car to the scene. On arrival crews found a man, the pedestrian, who they treated for potentially serious injuries before conveying him under emergency driving conditions to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. A woman, a passenger in one of the cars, was treated for injuries believed not to be serious and was also conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.”
A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “We were called to Longbridge High Street shortly after 2.30pm today after a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.
“Officers attended and a man was taken to hospital, though his injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
“The driver of the car involved remained at the scene to help officers with their enquiries.”
