West Midlands Police officers will be patrolling the area around a Weoley Castle primary school today (Thursday 18th September) after pupils were kept in a school ‘lockdown’ yesterday afternoon (Wednesday 17th September).
The incident happened at around 3pm yesterday. After receiving a report of a teenage boy being spotted with a knife in Green Meadow Road, West Midlands Police responded quickly.
Officers were in close contact with Green Meadow Primary School and pupils – due to leave at the end of the school day – were kept safe and secure inside the school while a police responded to the report.
A police spokesman confirmed: “Officers responded quickly and carried out a thorough search of the area but he wasn’t located.
“As soon as the area was checked and cleared, the school were updated and the children were able to leave school as normal.
“Officers will be in the area today (Thursday) offering reassurance.”
