West Midlands Police (WMP) are investigating after a woman and a four-year-old child were approached by a man on Bristol Road South in Longbridge at around 11.30am this morning (30th April).
The man attempted to grab the child’s arm, but was stopped by the woman. He then fled towards McDonalds.
Thankfully the child was not injured and WMP are offering support to the child and their family as officers work to identify and locate the person involved.
CCTV is being reviewed and officers have been speaking to people in the area as their investigations continue.
Insp Matt Shaw from Birmingham Police, said: “We understand how distressing the incident will be to the community but rest assured we are taking this incredibly serious.
“We are appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity at the time to speak to us if you haven’t already.
“We’d ask everyone in the area to support us by coming forward with any information they may have and to check door-bell cameras or dashcams in their cars, for any footage which may assist our enquiries.
“We have stepped up our patrols in the area. If you see officers out and about and have any concerns please speak to us.”
