A pedestrian sadly died after being involved in a collision with a lorry in Cotteridge yesterday(Thursday 19th September).
West Midlands Police are appealing for witnesses to the tragic incident in which the 53 year old man was fatally injured.
Emergency services were called to the collision at the junction of Pershore Road South and Watford Road just after 4.30pm.
West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) confirmed this morning that the man had passed away at the scene.
The service sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor with a Critical Care Paramedic to the scene.
A WMAS spokesman said: “On arrival crews discovered one patient, a man, who was the pedestrian.
“He was found to be in a critical condition and already receiving basic life support from an off-duty doctor.
“Ambulance staff began administering advanced life support but sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts it became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was cofirmed dead at the scene.”
West Midlands Police confirmed the man’s family had been informed and were being supported.
The road was closed for several hours while collision investigators worked at the scene.
Detective Sergeant Rich Evans, from our Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This is a tragedy and our thoughts are with the family of the man who sadly died.
“We’re in the early stages of our investigation and we would appeal for witnesses or for anyone with dashcam footage to please contact us.”
