On the 30th December, Bellfield Junior School opened its doors to help combat loneliness in the community.
The lucky guests, many of which were elderly, were treated to a wonderfully festive afternoon of food, fun and entertainment.
The ‘Christmas Community Meal’ was organised and run in its entirety by the lovely pupils of the Northfield based school.
Headteacher, Nigel Attwood: “The day was a success due to the brilliant children who volunteered and gave up their day to run the event. 35 children arrived at 9am to set up the room and tables, prepare all the food, greet our 50 guests, served, washed and tidied up, played games and provided entertainment! It was such a lovely day and our guests had a great time, while saying how impressed they were with the children and what they had done for the day.
“It couldn’t have happened without the volunteer adults that supported the children and without Clarkes Travel supporting the event transporting our guests and donations from the Neighbourhood Network Scheme and One Stop, Northfield.
“It was a day to be very proud of our children and the community.”
