Local communities are being asked to be vigilant and aware after a string of robberies across south west Birmingham.
A number of robberies – believed to be by the same group of offenders – have been carried out over the last few weeks, in and around Rubery, Selly Oak and Kings Norton
West Midlands Police said that a group of teenagers and men – aged between 15 to 21 – are believed to be targeting teenagers and students for personal items such as mobile phones and cash. They are thought to have been in either a dark or silver coloured hatchback car.
Although, fortunately, no one has been injured, it has been reported on some occasions that the offenders have been armed and have used weapons to threaten and intimidate victims.
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: “Violence is a priority for us and so far we have identified a number potential suspects and we are working to arrest them.
“Being victim of a robbery is a frightening experience. We understand that even if you’re not physically hurt if can be extremely distressing to be threatened with violence.”

The spokeswoman said: “Local neighbourhood teams are actively patrolling the affected areas and are working closely with the investigation team to ensure the safety of the community.
“We would urge the community to remain vigilant, consider their surroundings and report any suspicious activity or any information that may assist the case.”
