A local animal rescue which takes in unwanted, abused and abandoned animals, are appealing to the public as they are in dire need of cat foster homes.
The Animal House Rescue (TAHR), based in Bartley Green, have been inundated with people needing help with desperate animal cases, especially cats, and the charity are in short supply of suitable foster homes.
They are seeking kind hearted individuals who would be interested in being a cat fosterer, are you able to help? here are the basic criteria:
- Own transport highly preferred but not essential.
- Must live within 10 miles of B32 and be able to travel to vet appointments as TAHR’s vets are in Smethwick. This is so they can get supplies easily and quickly if needed and vet appointments/emergencies can be got to.
- For adult cats TAHRÂ will consider full time workers but for cats with kittens or just Kittens you will need to be around most of the time.
- Cats that have been spayed need an eye kept on them in case of complications, ie stitch abscesses and mastitis or anything else you notice that isn’t right.
- Kittens are like kids they can throw temperatures, be under the weather and have upset tummies on weaning.
- Fostering isn’t all about hugging cute and fluffy cats and kittens ..that’s the upside, its about cleaning cages, trays, mucky faces and bums sometimes and on occasion medication.
- You will also need a spare room so they can excersise out of their cage. Although TAHR supply cages, all cats and kittens need time out to burn off some energy and for mental stimulation where they can run and play.
All equipment and food will be provided by the charity, please fill in the form at www.theanimalhouserescue.co.uk/fostering if you’d be interested in becoming a cat fosterer for the charity.
