West Midlands Police have released CCTV footage of a woman who may be able to help in their search to find the mother of a newborn baby found wrapped in a blanket on Kings Norton park land on Thursday evening (22nd April).

The baby boy – who is now said to be doing well – was found at around 5.30pm by a dog walker on ‘The Mounds’ off Shannon Road after his dog alerted him.

Officers have been appealing for the mother of the baby to come forward, worried about her physical and mental health and wellbeing.

The footage shows a woman they would like to speak to walking along Shannon Road at around 5.10pm.

A police spokesperson said: “Sadly we’ve still not been able to find the mother of this little boy. We’re very concerned for her and want to check she is doing okay, both physically and mentally.

“This is our only concern right now, giving birth is a big thing and we’re concerned she will need medical help. This must be a very difficult time for her so we’re keen to talk to her as soon as possible.

“We’re appealing directly to the mother of the boy or anyone who knows who she is to please get in touch. If anyone recognises the woman in the CCTV, please get in touch she may hold vital information.”

Officers can be contacted via live chat online or by calling 101. Please quote log 3476 of 22 April.
