Turves Green Girls’ new building complete as school prepares to join King Edward VI Academy Trust

When current COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, pupils at a Northfield school will return to a brand new £22 million state-of-the-art building.

Transforming the school with a modern look, the new building at Turves Green Girls’ School includes a range of professional technology, equipment and innovative sports facilities.

With specialist technology suites, six high specification science laboratories, a sports hall, multi-gym and large playing field/athletics track, as well as a main hall with retractable seating for performances and dedicated rooms for Art, Music and Dance, the building will serve the school community in to the future.

With the completion of the building work, a nod to the future of the school is also evident.

With the school preparing to join the King Edward VI Academy Trust in September, modern metallic signage on the new building reads ‘King Edward VI Northfield School for Girls’.

After receiving approval from the West Midlands Headteacher Board in October 2020, the Academy Trust and the school are working closely to complete all legal academy conversion requirements.

The school is looking forward to being a part of the collaborative initiatives taking place across the Academy Trust and further developing the educational offer for children in the Northfield area.
