Birmingham and the West Midlands are set to move to Tier 3 restrictions as coronavirus cases in the city continue to steadily rise, reports Birmingham Live.
The regional media outlet reports that Birmingham City Council leader Cllr Ian Ward confirmed the move this morning saying: “Case rate numbers are going up and we have to do something more. We will be moving to Tier 3.”
Latest figures show that confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the city continue to rise with 270 cases per 100,000 people, compared to 223 last week.
Local leaders and government representatives are reportedly in talks to agree a support deal.
