West Midlands Police have released an appeal to help find a man wanted for questioning in connection with an arson attack at a Northfield home on Monday (13th April).

A woman and two children inside the property thankfully escaped uninjured before the fire tore through their home at around 8.30am on Monday morning. They have since been safeguarded.

Officers are urgently trying to trace the 34 year old who is suspected of gaining access into the property and setting fire to house furnishings before fleeing the area.

Residents were asked to remain in their homes on Monday morning while extensive searches were carried out for the suspect.

Inspector Dave Sproson said: “We believe this was a deliberate act and those inside the property were known to [him]. It’s just fortunate nobody was seriously injured and they have since been safeguarded.

“We urgently need to trace and speak to him and I would urge anyone with information to get in touch as soon as possible.”
