The Alexandra Hospital confirmed and announced a COVID related death on Monday 23 March 2020
The Redditch based hospital serves a population of approximately 200,000 and has over 300 beds.Matthew Hopkins, Chief Executive of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “We can confirm that, sadly, a patient who had tested positive for COVID-19 has died at one of our hospitals.
“The patient passed away at the Alexandra Hospital.
“Our thoughts and condolences remain with the patient’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.”
The hospital is the major centre for the county’s urology service – it has eight operating theatres, MRI and CT scanners and cancer unit status for breast, lung, urology, gynaecology and colorectal cancers.
