Bloor Homes have continued the clearance of selective vegetation and trees at the access points of the approved new housing development on the site of a former golf course in Northfield.
Initial clearance work on the former North Worcestershire Golf Course began at the site entrance in January 2020.
Following a long and controversial planning battle, Birmingham City Council’s rejection of outline plans for an 800 home development on the former North Worcestershire Golf Course in Hanging Lane was overturned by a government planning inspector in July this year.Â
The clearance of the consented highway access onto the site from Tessall Lane is expected to take approximately 4 days to complete – a single lane closure will be implemented along Tessall Lane for the duration of the works.
Kat Coombes: “The North Worcestershire Golf Course development has started with the unfortunate and excessive destruction of many old trees. Very sad.”
A spokesperson for Bloor Homes homes said: “Contractors appointed by Bloor Homes will minimise disruption for local residents as far as possible”.
Adding: “The works are in accordance with a Tree Preservation Order application that has been approved by Birmingham City Council and are being undertaken now in order to avoid the bird nesting season.”
