As part of West Midlands Police’s (WMP) ongoing partnership work with schools in the West Midlands, their Operation Skybridge team recently visited sixth form pupils at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School in Kings Norton.
Officers from the Skybridge team delivered an input to sixth form students who are currently studying Criminology.
The students were given information around policing powers, use of force, stop and search, as well as criminology case studies.
This was a chance for WMP officers to spend some more relaxed, informal time with the youngsters and develop some real connections.
PC Danny Fulford, from the Skybridge team, said: “We were able to share with students about how we tackle serious and acquisitive crimes, which includes burglary, robbery, and theft.
“We were also able to provide an insight into our investigative techniques, and how we gather evidence.
“A demonstration was also shown for our equipment, which was positively received by the students.”
Skybridge’s proactive work in Birmingham continues, with the arrest of a man suspected of stealing from a car.
Bank cards were taken from the car on Grasmere Road on Thursday (18th June), and then later used nearby.
Earlier today (21 June), a man suspected of being linked to the crime, was spotted and then found in an address on Soho Road.
Searches also recovered several other items linked to at least one other investigation into a similar offence.
The man, aged 41, was arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle and fraud, and remains police custody.
