Gold Care Homes is delighted to announce a new partnership with Dementia Friendly Barbers, bringing specialist barbering experiences to residents to our care homes.

The collaboration reflects our ongoing commitment to providing meaningful, person-centred experiences that support not only physical wellbeing, but also confidence, social connection and a sense of identity for residents.

Dementia Friendly Barbers is a specialist service that understands the unique needs of people living with dementia. Through tailored barbering sessions delivered in a calm, familiar and supportive environment, residents are given the opportunity to enjoy a traditional grooming experience while engaging in conversation and building connections.

The partnership has initially launched across homes in Birmingham (Lucton House Care Home in Bournville), London, the South East, Essex, Hertfordshire, Birmingham and surrounding regions, allowing residents to benefit from regular visits from trained dementia-friendly barbers.

At Gold Care Homes, we recognise that maintaining personal routines and appearance can play an important role in supporting self-esteem and wellbeing. For many residents, a visit to the barber is more than a haircut. It is a familiar ritual that can spark memories, encourage conversation and provide valuable one-to-one interaction.

Natasha Pocock, Sales and Marketing Director at Gold Care Homes, said:“At Gold Care Homes, we are always looking for meaningful ways to enhance the lives of our residents. This partnership with Dementia Friendly Barbers is an example of how small, familiar experiences can have a significant impact on wellbeing, confidence and social connection.

We have been delighted by the enthusiasm from our homes and are excited to see residents benefiting from a service that has been specifically designed with people living with dementia in mind.”

Cordelle Cabey, Co-Founder of Dementia Friendly Barbers, added:“We’re incredibly proud to announce that our barbers have begun delivering DFB’s barber therapy to hundreds of men living in Gold Care Homes across the country.

This is our biggest partnership to date, across nearly 20 homes which means we impact more men and their families each month through the work we do.

We’re excited to see this partnership flourish and look forward to hearing the many wonderful stories that come from their homes.”

As the partnership continues to grow, residents across Gold Care Homes will have regular opportunities to enjoy the familiar experience of a trip to the barber, helping to promote confidence, conversation and meaningful social connection.

Through this partnership, Gold Care Homes is continuing to invest in experiences that enrich daily life and support person-centred care. By helping residents maintain familiar routines and meaningful social connections, Dementia Friendly Barbers will play an important role in enhancing wellbeing across the homes.
