A local family visiting a Longbridge park were devastated to find the memorial bench for their late father had been ripped from its position and damaged yesterday (Sunday 21st June).
Gary Conroy from Northfield sadly passed away due to cancer in 2012.
When his two daughters went to visit his memorial bench for Father’s Day, they were shocked to find it was gone.
They found it had been moved away – along with another bench that had been similarly dragged from it’s original position – to form a circle with a third, undamaged bench.
Gary’s bench was also badly damaged.
Daughter Ellie said: “Whoever has moved it should be ashamed of themselves! The slats at the back have been ripped out and it has ruined and destroyed the bench.
“Me and my sister went up there for Father’s Day and when we got to the post it was gone!! We then found it in this position, ripped out of the ground and moved away from where it was supposed to be to make this circle of benches.
“People have no respect at all, as they have also done it to someone else’s memorial bench!”
Park staff have been informed of the vandalism.
