A care home in Edgbaston surprised nurses at a local hospital with a delivery of cookies to celebrate International Nurses Day.

Residents and team members at Care UK’s Edgbaston Manor, on Speedwell Road, visited the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham to hand out freshly baked cookies to hospital staff, in celebration of International Nurses Day.

During the visit resident Sibyl Gilbert gave the cookies to nurses and doctors and spoke to them about how hospitals have changed over time.

Sibyl said: “I love to speak to people and have a laugh and most of all support the nurses and the hard work they do.”

Back at Edgbaston Manor, residents surprised the nursing team with thank you cards and a hamper to show their appreciation towards their service and dedication.

Zoe Steventon, Home Manager at Edgbaston Manor, said: “We are so grateful to the nurses – both at the home and at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, who make such a difference every day. Sibyl and the team loved visiting the hospital to deliver the cookies in person.

“Our nursing team are at the heart of our home, providing compassion, comfort, kindness, and exceptional care to residents and their families. Surprising the team with a hamper and seeing the smile on their faces was wonderful.

“The nurses – both at the hospital and at Edgbaston Manor all do such an amazing job and deserve to be recognised. We were all very happy to be able to say thank you.”
