A local gymnastics club has confirmed its award winning credentials with success in competition.
Invert Gymnastics, training from its South Birmingham base, has built on previous success at a regional gymnastics competition held at Fenton Manor in Stoke-on-Trent on Saturday 18th March, bringing home an impressive 7 Individual medals, 3 Team medals, and the prestigious George Finney Trophy awarded for the top 10 beginners scores from the George Finney Floor and Vault Competition 2026.
Competing against 12 other British Gymnastics registered clubs from across the West Midlands, 20 girls and 2 boys from Invert Gymnastics, aged Under 9 to Under 15, showcased their skill, dedication, and shared love for the sport in what was, for many, their first taste of competitive gymnastics.
With gymnasts hailing from Bromsgrove and South Birmingham, the squad’s efforts were rewarded not only with medals but also the George Finney Trophy, a major achievement and great reward for the committed youngsters.
One of the clubs male gymnasts taking part in his very first competition for Invert achieved an incredible 3rd place finish in the under 9 category. A real demonstration of Invert’s values and the encouraging environment their gymnasts can thrive in.
Beth Smith, Head Coach of Invert Gymnastics, praised the team’s incredible showing: “We are incredibly proud to have retained the George Finney Trophy for a second year. The gymnasts showed amazing determination, teamwork and confidence throughout the competition. To see so many of them achieving top placements is fantastic.”
Invert Gymnastics continues to build a reputation for nurturing young talent through a supportive and inclusive coaching approach. With recreational classes for all abilities, the club has become an inviting hub for budding local gymnasts.
Francis, a gymnast from Bromsgrove enjoyed the experience: “I had the best time! I loved the chance to show everyone what Invert is about and represent my club. I’m so proud that me and my friends did so well, we kept our focus and put in maximum effort but also had great fun competing! I’ll be back for more next year!”
Invert Gymnastics is based in Selly Oak, Birmingham and run classes on Monday evenings and Sundays. Gymnasts come from the south Birmingham region and Bromsgrove areas to participate with us. Trial sessions are free and we welcome all abilities to our inclusive lessons.
