A stem cell donation drive see’s hundreds of kind hearted people turn up in support of a local teenager.
Sixteen year-old Leo Sproson from Bromsgrove, is just like any other teenager. He loves gaming, Virtual Reality and has a close group of friends.
Sadly, the young Leo recently received a devastating leukaemia diagnosis and urgently needs to find a matching stem cell donor.
So on Sunday the 23rd of November at St Godwalds Church, Bromsgrove – a donor drive was organised asking the local community to attend and be swabbed to see if they are a match – and they sure did attend.
Leo’s aunty, Kate said: “Leo’s Stem Cell Donation Drive was epic. We had people traveling from all over to get there swabs done to join the Stem Cell Register. We managed to swab 718 people and raised £4000 for the Blood Cancer Charity DKMS. It’s not too late to still join the register.”

Cllr Simon Morrall, who attended the event said: “What a turnout to help save Leo’s life. A huge round of applause to all the volunteers. They did a fantastic job – and a round of an applause for Bromsgrove and South Birmingham! Be proud of this great community! Hopefully we can find a match for Leo.”
