A 23-year-old man has been charged with possession of a knife after being stopped by officers from a specialist West Midlands Police taskforce in Northfield yesterday (Monday 3rd November).
Officers from Project Guardian stopped Javarne Sawyers (23) while patrolling around Bristol Road South. Following searches, a knife was seized and the man was arrested.
Sawyers has now been charged and will be appearing before Birmingham Magistrates Court later this month.
Project Guardian is a specialist taskforce which tackles knife crime and youth violence. There is particular emphasis on reducing knife crime, through a range of tactics from plain-clothed operations to high visibility patrols.
