A care home in Birmingham has been paid a flying visit by some feathered friends.
Residents at Care UK’s Metchley Manor, in Edgbaston, had a hoot when they welcomed owls, hawks and falcons into the home.
The friendly and relaxed creatures were brought in by Owl Adventures UK, who shared their passion for birds of prey and information about their habits, habitats, and the vital role they play in nature.
Resident, Beryl Yates said: “I was overjoyed when I saw the birds come in. It was a truly beautiful experience – I love owls so much!”
Kim Marie-Newton, General Manager at Metchley Manor, said: “We loved welcoming our feathered friends into the home – we were all in awe of them. Everyone had a fantastic day that left all the residents smiling.
“Here at Metchley Manor, we are always hosting new and exciting activities. Animal therapy has proven to be incredibly beneficial for older people, as it can prompt social interaction, increase physical activity and be calming.
“I’d like to extend a huge thank you to the falconry team for making the day so memorable.”
Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, Metchley Manor offers full-time residential and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care, in luxury surroundings. The home offers an array of enriching activities and embraces innovation to ensure residents live joyful, fulfilling lives.
