Following the tremendous success of their Sponsorship Day last year, where they raised nearly £5,000 for Acorns Children’s Hospice and Brain Tumour Research UK – the children and staff of St Francis Primary School (SFPS) are doing it all over again.
Acorns Children’s Hospice is a charity very close to the hearts of the entire St Francis
community as they have had a family who have relied on Acorns to support them through some very difficult times.
As part of the school’s courageous advocacy work this year they are aiming to
complete a series of sponsored activities to raise even more money than they did last year.
SFPS have a whole day of sponsored activities planned and all the children and staff will take part. Year 6 children will kick off the day by completing a 5K sponsored run around Bournville, passing Acorns Children’s hospice on the way. In the afternoon, every child and adult across school will carousel around four different events:
• A Scootathon
• A Danceathon
• A ‘tough mudder’ inspired assault course
• An Orienteering Challenge
A spokesperson for the school said: “Our community have been working hard to gather sponsors for all the different activities and we have challenged the children to raise even more money than we did last year.”
