Three teenage boys have pleaded guilty to their roles in violence which led to a 15-year-old boy sustaining life-threatening injuries after being stabbed in the abdomen November last year.
The incident happened just before 1am on 18th November 2024 at the corner of Frankley Beeches Road and Bristol Road South in Northfield.
The boy was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries but thankfully survived. He continues to recover from his injuries.
Following an investigation by West Midlands Police Major Crime Unit, three teenagers were arrested in connection with the incident.
The three boys – two 16-year-olds and one 17-year-old – appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on Tuesday (20 May).
One 16-year-old boy pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article.
The other 16-year-old boy, and the 17-year-old, both pleaded guilty to violent disorder and possession of a bladed article.
They will all be sentenced at a later date.
Major Crime Team Detective Inspector Ade George said: “This is another example of the dangers of carrying a knife.
“This was a very serious attack, and the boy suffered serious injuries but thankfully survived.
“I hope this will make people aware of the serious consequences of carrying knives.”
This week, police across England and Wales are taking part in Operation Sceptre, targeting knife crime in a week of intensified action.
Reducing knife crime is a top priority for West Midlands Police and this week sees more intensified police action, focused on disrupting serious youth violence, knife crime, and antisocial behaviour.
If you’re carrying a knife and want to get rid of it, put it in a weapon surrender bin. You can find a knife bin at Morrisons Rubery B45 9AH (by the car park entrance, in a lay-by on your left). Or click here to find other weapon surrender bins across the West Midlands.
